My History:

My name is Michael Cosgrove, most people call me Mike.  I was born in Malone, NY and moved to Ferrisburg when I was 5.  My family stayed in the Ferrisburg area until I was 18.  That is when I joined the U.S. Army as a Computer Systems Repairman.  While in the Army I was stationed in Louisiana at Ft Polk and in the Republic of Panama at Corozal.  After my honorable discharge,  I returned home to Vermont.  I left Vermont for my first big job, it was in New Jersey as a government contractor at Ft. Monmouth.  The company I worked for built a digital communications network for all branches of the military and research firms to use for testing new communications equipment.

I moved back to Vermont in 1994 and started working for a small cable television company owned by Ray Pecor.   I worked for 5 years at Lake Champlain Cable TV which included Richmond Cable TV.  The companies were bought by Adelphia, but Adelphia went bankrupt.  Adelphia was purchased by Comcast and after the transition to Comcast, I wanted to spend more time with my family.  My work in the cable industry lasted for a total of 14 years before I started ASD of Vermont.

Currently:

My wife and I live in North Ferrisburg with our four children which were born in 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2009.  My wife is a special education teacher at Beeman Elementary School in New Haven.  Our favorite pastime is bird watching.  We have traveled throughout Vermont in pursuit of rare birds or birds not found near our home.  We have been birding from Bennington up to Alburg and over to the Northeast Kingdom.  Whether we are watching them in the back yard or going to some distant place to see them, bird watching is a wonderful way to spend time together.
